Hero Quest is a one-day leadership simulation day camp for Youth 12-18 years old.
Summit is a two-day simulation day camp for 8-12 year-olds led by the Hero Quest Youth Leaders.
(See our Summit and Hero Quest pages to learn more.)
Hero Quest is Thursday, Aug 21, 2025
Summit is Friday and Saturday, Aug 22-23, 2025
Both events are at the American Fork Amphitheater, 851 East 700 North, American Fork, UT
Please Note: Age cut-off dates are different for Youth Leaders and Summit Attendees.
Youth Leaders:
Youth can apply for and be assigned to Youth Leadership positions so long as they are a minimum of 12* years old and a maximum of 18 years old on Jan 1st of the Summit year. Youth that turn 12 after January 1st of the Summit year may participate as a Summit Attendee (knight or handmaiden) and apply as a Youth Leader the following year.
Summit Attendees:
Children must be 8 and no older than 12* by the first day of the current year's Summit Event in order to participate as a Summit Attendee (knight or handmaiden).
* We acknowledge that for some 12 year olds there is a period of overlap for those who turn 12 by Jan 1st and who are both old enough to be a Youth Leader and young enough to be a Summit Attendee. We look to parents to gauge whether their child is ready for a more involved and demanding role as a Youth Leader or if they would do better with one more year of being led as a Summit Attendee.
Please see our Age Policy.
Heroic Youth is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All income received goes directly to the Heroic Youth programs. Specifically, we use these funds for administrative purposes (websites, equipment, storage, insurance) and paying for materials that go directly to the youth. Heroic Youth is a 100% volunteer organization, so you can trust that your registration fees will benefit your youth and the other participants.
The registration fee will be used to cover operational expenses and materials provided to the youth and attendees for the program experience (T-shirts, trading cards, simulation artifacts, mail costs, Everyday Warrior Journey materials, and awards). It also covers foam weapons and equipment/facilities costs for the final event at the American Fork Amphitheater and any costs needed for the awards ceremony that ends the year's events.
Registrations are NOT transferable. Please see our Financial Policies page.

Heroic Youth is a training ground, so youth that are 18 but out on their own or out "adulting" should not apply.
Please see our Age Policy.
Youth Leader fees are $142 this year and are due at registration with an additional $40 fee due after assignments are announced for roles of Princess, Master Knight, or Royal House due to those roles receiving extra training and mentoring.
Yes. Please plan ahead before registrations open up. We cannot reserve spots and they sell out quickly. (see our Financial Policies page for details)
Registration for Youth Leaders will open on the website on February 14th at 5:00pm MST and will close when spots fill up. You will need to have the following things prepared ahead of time as we do fill up quickly:
- Be between the ages of 12 to 18 on Jan 1, 2025 (see Age Policy)
- 1-2 page paper on this year's theme: Divine Nobility
- Headshot photo
- Fees: $142, due at registration*
- Read and Agree to the 5 Commitments
We have sold out of Youth Leader spots every year for the last several years, so register early! Registration does not mean acceptance into the program. Interviews are an important part of acceptance into the program, and you must be willing to commit to the 5 Commitments. We want you all in the program, but we want you to get out of it what it is designed to provide, not just a fun weekend at the end.
If registration is closed, don’t despair! We will have a waitlist in case spots open up. If spots do open up, we'll only contact those on the waitlist. If the waitlist is closed, youth who wish to participate in this year’s events can still do so by playing the role of villains in our final battle. Being a villain is a fulfilling and engaging way to participate! See our Join the Final Battle page to register to be a villain. Subscribe to our email list to receive information about Kickoff and when Youth Leader registration opens next year!
* An additional $40 fee will be due at a later date for youth assigned the role of Master Knight, Princess, or Royal House due to those roles receiving extra training and mentoring.
As part of the registration process, youth that would like to be in the program submit a paper on the theme for the year. This year it is Divine Nobility. (Click on the link to see the scriptures and printable posters to help get you started.)
The guidelines for papers are:
- Write the paper before registration opens.
- A minimum of 1 page and maximum of 2 pages. (Every paper is read, and 100+ papers to read before interviews is a lot for the Royalty.)
- You can use any format you want, we aren't judging papers. We would only like to know your thoughts on the theme.
- Upload it with your registration in PDF format (You can use Google docs and download it to PDF or use MS Word and save it as a PDF.)
Note: We will refund you if you upload a blank or "IOU" paper so that someone else that has taken the time to write their paper can register.
Photo guidelines:
- Headshot (shoulders up) of the youth registering
- No other people in the photo
- JPG/JPEG or PNG format
- Less than 10 MB
- Does NOT need to be professional, just a nice photo of the youth. Many smartphones have good cameras and will take a good photo
If registration is closed, don’t despair! We will have a waitlist in case spots open up. If spots do open up, we'll only contact those on the waitlist. (Check the website homepage for the link.)
If the waitlist is closed, youth who wish to participate in this year’s Hero Quest and Summit events can still do so by playing the role of villains in our final battle. Being a youth villain is a fulfilling and engaging way to participate! See our Join the Final Battle page to register to be a youth villain.
Subscribe to our email list to hear when Youth Leader registration opens next year after the Kickoff! (see the bottom of the homepage)
You can find it on The 5 Commitments page.
Participating in Heroic Youth requires a certain level of commitment. Each youth leader role have different responsibilities, and a Master Knight and Princess requires more commitment of time and energy. During interviews, bring your date conflicts with you so the Royalty can place you in a role that will work for the program and you.
At a minimum* every youth leader will need to attend the Youth Leader Training, Youth Leader Role Training, General Summit Training, at least 1 House meeting, Summit Walkthrough, Hero Quest, and both days of Summit.
*Master Knights, Princesses, and Royal House require more commitment.
Interviews are to help you understand the Heroic Youth Leader Program and to get to know you better.
How to Prepare: After you have registered, you will be sent an email with interview dates for you to sign up for an appointment time. Youth are required to bring a parent with them to their interview appointment, so coordinate appointments with your parent and any siblings that have also registered. Siblings and parents can go through some of the process together, and siblings should signup for interviews near each other.
Go over date conflicts on our Events Calendar with your parent and bring them with you to your interview.
What to Expect on Interview Day: Please dress nicely as you would for a job interview and be on time. Expect to take 30-60 minutes.
Once you arrive, you will be greeted and checked-in. You will verify that your contact information is correct. You and your parent will proceed through a series of stations where you will go over details about the Heroic Youth program, youth leader roles, the events calendar, and the 5 Commitments. We will also answer questions you may have.
Youth will then have their interview with the Royalty: Christathel for girls, and Terra Libre for boys. Youth will be asked about themselves and leadership experience (any kind), the yearly theme, and youth leader roles that might be a good fit. If they still have questions, they can ask them in their interview.
During interviews with the Royalty, parents will be led to a waiting area for parents where they will learn about volunteering opportunities.
Once the interview with Royalty is finished, you can leave.
Locations: Interviews will be held in person at different locations in Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties. See the Event Calendar for dates and location areas.
Please Note: Registration and having an interview will not guarantee acceptance into the program. You must be willing to commit to the 5 Commitments. We want you all in the program, but we want you to get out of it what it is designed to provide, not just a fun weekend at the end.
Youth can expect to receive their assignments on April 12th.
Yes. We utilize a number of tools to help with the program over the year. Youth Leaders will need to be able to get online to fill out their EWJ reports on a weekly basis. They will also receive communications from their House via text message and through Google Chat. Access to a Google Account is required to be able to use Google Chat, and they will engage with their house a lot using this method. Lastly, they will receive email communications about EWJ, upcoming trainings, and other pertinent information, so they should be able to check their email multiple times per week.
We do post updates on Facebook and Instagram, but access to those platforms is not required at all. All important details are also sent out via email to all youth leaders and parents of attendees (although you might miss a couple of fun pictures or memes).
Yes! Youth leaders will be committed to participate in the Everyday Warrior Journey (EWJ), a personal mastery program where focus is brought to the little daily things that make us Heroic. Tools and resources will be provided at the beginning and along the way. Parents and families are highly encouraged to participate with their youth.
Yes, there are three official house meetings during the summer that will be decided by the leadership of each Noble House. The dates, locations, and times of these meetings will be decided after role assignments are accepted. Each youth will be placed in a House with Master Knights and Princesses at the lead, with many other supporting Youth Leader roles. It is expected that the Master Knights and Princesses over each House will lead their House using a number of tools. House meetings will be scheduled as a way for the House to coordinate their efforts, share their successes, and encourage each other throughout the summer.
You can expect that the same youth leadership structure we have used in the past will be present this year. There may be necessary adjustments based on the number of youth registering, but all the basic positions will still be represented. (For more information for Youth Leaders, see our Hero Quest page and Youth Leader Roles page.)
You can find it on the Youth Leader Roles page.
We will provide Trading cards to the Youth Leaders and Summit Attendees (young knights and handmaidens).
